My sincere apologizes @K8sMom2002 for the delay in getting back to you! Oh, they have been on big adventures this summer. We flew across the country to visit their great grandparents and grandparents! (It was our first time in 3 years that we were able to make a trip back to our "hometown" in Michigan). We then drove to Canada to get him and big brother some safe snacks! Went orange picking, bike rides, walks, and at home learning lessons.

I have to say that I am very disappointed by the response by AAFA.. It is not enough to simple be "distanced" from an animal on the plane, In addition to the danger of being subjected to animal hair and dander on seats and carpets, these dangers are also circulated through the aircraft ventilation system, thus making distancing ineffective. We are not just in danger from the current flight we are boarding but the multiple, previous flights that have accommodated animals.Planes are being...

Hi Dawn, I am sorry you were disappointed in our response. We are continuing to work with the DOT as part of a disability working group and agree that all passengers have a right to safe travel. It is incredibly challenging to accommodate multiple disabilities on an aircraft, but we feel that this rule will significantly reduce the fraudulent use of emotional support animals. We will continue to engage with the DOT to ensure equal accommodation for the asthma and allergy community. Best...

Hi Kathy! I had an idea 💡. Maybe, during certain blog posts that may be about certain types of food allergies...such as wheat, beef, eggs, dairy or intolerance to gluten, a recipe or two that would be safe for those particular people to make and consume. Such as a homemade soup...not beef noodle, but chicken noodle. Or substituting soy or chicken or beans for beef in chili. I think people would feel safe and confident to make and consume recipes posted here! Thanks for listening! Debbie 😊

The bedroom should be kept allergen and asthma trigger free. It may be difficult, but it is important to try! When we are lying down, our breathing problems often worsen. That is why we should have a clean and safe bedroom. We do need to get a good night of rest!

The school has a para assigned to her in the classroom. They follow her asthma plan to the T. Text me frequently. Check her pulse ox all the time (she has one she carries with her). Keep her out of physical activity when needed. They don't really give her any other accomodations. Not sure what they could. I agree that's a great idea. Not sure what is available. I know the school is very supportive. She doesn't have any allergies. She has had numerous allergy panels and they have checked her...

Hi all - Thanks for the compliments. I have not had to evacuate, thank goodness! I have a friend in Florida who had to evacuate recently. As soon as she knew a potential evacuation was coming found a hotel in a safe area that would accept her animals and always has emergency kits packed for her, her mom and her animals. Interesting. I wonder if adults receive any benefits from pretreating with inhaled steroids as far as preventing flare-ups-- or if they are like the children from this study and do not benefit? I sure with there were more non-steroid options that were efective and safe and less side effects. I know I am working hard with avoidance strategies and keeping indoor air quality in my home good.
