I have full blown allergies to some fruits (apples, peaches, pears, plums, grapes) and I cannot eat them as juices, in jams, pies, marinades, or in wines or I get really ill-- at the very least vomiting, bad itching and redness, heat everywhere, just bad.. Sometines starts to affect breathing too and I carry epipens abd benadryl along with my asthma inhalers. I avoid these foods strictly (along with nuts). Good enough reason for people to only go smoke it in a well ventilated location by themselves. Drives me crazy. Any cigarettes smoke or cannabis triggers my migraines and asthma. People unfortunately don’t understand manners or personal space.

@BenR Secondhand smoke from cigarettes, cannabis, and anything else that burns is indeed problematic for folks with asthma. If and when possible, those with a legal prescription could use other forms of marijuana (e.g. edibles) which would avoid the trigger (i.e. smoke) that affects so many people.

@Arle , Compton's response is spot on. I'll add that the process of burning (i.e. combustion) creates lots of byproducts that are bad for everyone's lungs --especially asthmatics.

@Arle , inhaling wood smoke is not good for anyone's lungs. Regarding whether or not wood smoke is worse than the smoke produced from other things that you could burn (e.g. paper, plastic, leaves, etc.) --the answer depends. I've had things I knew I was allergic come up negative on blood tests but positive on skin prick tests and obviously positive when exposed to the allergen. From what I understand there is a difference in allergic responses that isn't always picked up on blood tests, and also that sometimes an allergen has more allergenic components in it than what is looked for on a specific ige blood test but that do often pick up on the skin prick test. @Shea is absolutely right -- a reaction can indeed occur immediately or 2 - 6 hours (sometimes more) later . Seeing a board-certified allergist is definitely a way to get a more accurate assessment of what your allergies truly are.

The Humidity is lower in the Midwest. The western part of the Midwest. I've been monitoring the climate. I think this will help me. My allergies are stronger in the fall. I figured moving to that area would be good. In addition isn't there something called the 'honeymoon period!'? Kind of like: it takes a while for new allergies to start up? I'll keep my home in michigan and just leave once or twice a year.

@Grg , You're right on both accounts. The further a place is from a coast (or large lake), the less humid it's likely to be. Regarding the "honeymoon period", this is entirely possible. Many folks with asthma and/or allergies experience atopy . This can lead to developing allergies (that you didn't have before) to triggers in the new environment.

Excellent question. There's more than one type of rhinitis (or nasal allergies). Allergic rhinitis is caused by an allergen (for example, pollen or dust). Non-allergic rhinitis is caused by other things like chemicals or a deviated septum (i.e. physical nose defect) to name a few.

Hmmmm. Soooo. The 2 types: allergic and non allergic, would cover rhinitis? Or is it more broad than that? Trying to avoid triggers for the fall season when my immune system is the weakest, could turn into a full time job. *I am not a doctor,* I suffer from cat allergies also. Gently wash your eyes, face with clean water & ivory soap, or gently use a baby wipe cloth. Use Refresh eyedrops. If you lay down in your bed after touching, being with the cat, you will have to wash, clean your bedding before you go to sleep again. Its not being "rude," if you want to be near cats, to wear a mask, gloves, eye covering/protective goggles. Cat dander gives me asthma, along with other allergic reactions. I can't be...

@Whippetartist 's suggestions are great! I'd only add to her mask recommendation. It's finally a lot easier to find a really good protective mask (specifically, N95s, P95s, N100s, P100s, and KN95s). These are definitely more effective (compared to cloth masks).

Welcome, @GilbertoF . It's good to have you here in the AAFA community. An interesting question! Your report lists sensitivity to the pollens of English plantain, ragweed, and goosefoot.That has nothing to say about whether you are allergic to cannabis pollen, something rare in any location, I think. As 'Ask the Allergist' says above, allergy to marijuana is possible but more likely connected to smoking it.
