Public Statement of AAFA's Support for Funding the National Institutes of Health
Our organization is driven by a deep commitment to provide individuals and families managing asthma and allergies with the information and support needed to live healthier lives. But our communities are in need of more than just compassion; they need to know that their country is willing to invest in not only the health of our future β but also the future of our health. All Americans, including AAFAβs constituents, have benefited from the important research provided by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). A perfect example is the recent, world-changing NIAID study on peanut allergy prevention guidelines. Itβs because of research like this that we can inform, educate and empower people to live healthier and more productive lives. Funding cuts to medical research are simply not the answer and will only prevent scientists and researchers from being able to continue making great strides in the critical field of health.
