Question
My doctor prescribed Allegra for my allergic asthma. I know that you cannot take Allegra with fruit juice, but can I take Allegra with vitamin C tablets? Do they reduce the Allegra's effectiveness?Β
Answer

Newer antihistamines can interact with orange, grapefruit, and apple juice. Fruit or fruit juices can significantly decrease their absorption from the gut or gastrointestinal tract. This includes antihistamines such as fexofenadine (Allegra). It can make them less effective in treating allergy symptoms.

It is important to take this antihistamine at least two hours before or two hours after fruit juices. This will help to get the best response.

There is no problem with taking Allegra with Vitamin C tablets.

Always review the medicines and supplements you are taking with your doctor. Make sure there are no adverse interactions.
