Question
Can removing grains, dairy, and sugar from your diet help with eczema flare-ups?
Answer

Some people with eczema may notice a benefit from changes to their diet. But current evidence does not support removing grain, dairy, and sugar from your diet to manage eczema.

Studies show removing food types from your diet just to improve atopic dermatitis symptoms doesn’t have much benefit. Food elimination diets are not currently recommended. They can come with risks. Instead, it’s best to follow a complete eczema management plan. This includes proper skin care and medical treatments.

Speak with an allergist or dermatologist (or both) about the best way to manage your eczema.
