Question
I was recently prescribed an inhaler that you only take once a day. Does it matter if I take it at night or in the morning?
Answer

This type of inhaler is referred to as a controller inhaler. It should be used on a regular daily basis to control symptoms (e.g., asthma symptoms). This inhaler could be used once a day at night or once a day in the morning. Studies show that once-daily dosing in the evening can be more beneficial to control symptoms. It can improve lung function. In addition, asthma symptoms can be worse in the evening hours and overnight. This would also favor once-a-day dosing of a controller inhaler at night.
