Music is the supreme manifestation of the human spirit that touches us all. Whenever I am performing music written by some of the greatest geniuses of history, I am immediately in a different world – a dream world, in which asthma doesn’t exist.

This photo was taken during a 2017 performance of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, one of the most emotionally and physically demanding works in the repertoire, at the prestigious Powell Symphony Hall in St. Louis, Missouri.
