Now I don't have an inhaler that works and I'm 66 with Asthma and Bronchitis and a heart condition. The Ins. doesn't care if you drop dead! Blog Post CommentI'm severely allergic to peanuts and cannot use proair. Pro air is manufacture it on the line that has peanut contamination. Whereas ventilon isn't. I am on social security and I cannot afford that price. However maybe it's the part D drug plan you have. If you were to change up you might be able to get it covered. Or your doctor should be getting samples .my doc provides me with samples .

Blog Post CommentWWe are most grateful for this article! My lungs do not know the difference between "essential"oils and other fragrances AKA chemicals. Please consider using the standard that NO smell is the good smell...we need to breathe unadulterated air! Rid our environment from chemical odors found in personal products, detergents/fabric softener, plug-ins, household cleaners and the like. Additionally, our children will benefit from a clean air environment!

Blog Post CommentCold air in general can be an issue if you tend to breathe through your mouth. It doesn't have a chance to get warmed up before hitting your lungs.

Blog Post CommentMe too, been unable to fly from the west coast to the east coast since I had a terrible allergy/asthma attack on a plane flight in 2011. The attack was triggered by a dog (dander) in the cabin that was near the on board restroom I has to use.

It is not enough to simple be "distanced" from an animal on the plane, In addition to the danger of being subjected to animal hair and dander on seats and carpets, these dangers are also circulated through the aircraft ventilation system, thus making distancing ineffective. We are continuing to work with the DOT as part of a disability working group and agree that all passengers have a right to safe travel. It is incredibly challenging to accommodate multiple disabilities on an aircraft, but we feel that this rule will significantly reduce the fraudulent use of emotional support animals. Blog Post Comment❤️I agree with Dawn on the issue. While every side can claim discrimination, possible life threatening issues should come first. I do see far too many people using "emotional support" as just a way to get their pets into stores and other places. Service animals should be registered as such and businesses should be able to legally ask for registration (NOT the reason for the animal). On another note, it would be great if airlines would limit or stop crews from using perfume and other scents.

Blog Post CommentInteresting. I have read lots of places that essential oils can be used to reduce mold and dust mites and open airways. I use eucalyptus and tea tree aLOT... I hope I am not causing my asthma problems... The Eagle creek wildfire started while I was visiting. 50 days without rain, heat waves and wildfire was started by a teenager and fireworks. A shame. But I didn’t let it ruin my visit. Blog Post CommentI am in Oakland and the smoke was so bad here that I stayed indoors for a week, with the house sealed and the air purifier on. When asthma symptoms started, I would use acupressure points to prevent attacks from progressing. It works amazingly well.

Blog Post Comment❤️Welcome, 805Native, and I can understand your frustration. The ADA does not regulate air transportation. Instead, the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) regulates flying. Currently, the ACAA regulations have a much broader definition of a “service animal" than the ADA does. Blog Post Comment❤️I’ve never thought of improving the air quality at my work because I don’t get the right support for anything so I didn’t bother asking. I don’t have food allergies but I have a lot of environmental allergies and I take Flonase, Zyrtec, Fluticasone, Eye drops, and Benadryl at night just to sleep. I’d probably be a great candidate for Xolair! I also have asthma. It’s been interesting to say the least!

Blog Post Comment❤️Hi Jeana - I hope your emergency medicine helped. Cold weather can be an asthma trigger . Dry and/or cold air is a trigger for airway narrowing (bronchoconstriction). One thing that helps is to wrap a scarf loosely around your mouth and nose. That helps warm the air before it gets to your lungs. We've actually been talking about this on the support forum - Managing your Asthma and Allergies in the Winter .

I wonder if adults receive any benefits from pretreating with inhaled steroids as far as preventing flare-ups-- or if they are like the children from this study and do not benefit? I sure with there were more non-steroid options that were efective and safe and less side effects. I know I am working hard with avoidance strategies and keeping indoor air quality in my home good.

By living in a dander-free home, his environmental allergies and eczema are much more under control with no medication.
