Lynnnowik, the device is not out yet -- the Wing website (click the blue letters to take you to their website) has some information about it and a place to sign up for news alerts. The blog says that they're hoping to release it in the fall. In the meantime, how can we help you with your asthma? I hope you'll join us on our Daily Roll Call "thread" on the forums -- it's a great way to get to know other folks who are managing asthma and get a little encouragement each day!
Have you tried calling around to different pharmacies? Because of the recall it probably put the stock on back order. The same thing happened to my daughter's medication and I had to sit and call every pharmacy til I found one that happened to have some in stock. Good luck.
Hi Laura, We are contacting GlaxoSmithKline to get more information about this recall. In the meantime, call your pharmacy and/or doctor to ask them about getting a new inhaler. If they are unaware of the recall, let them know it was listed in the FDA Enforcement Report for the Week of December 16. It is a Class II recall that was initiated on December 3, 2015. We will update our blog and Facebook page as soon as we have more information. Thank you!
I called the numbered for GlaxoSmithKline and they are charging .69 cents to $1.69 per minute for the call! Why would anybody need to pay a company to get information on this recall?? What's up with this nonsense and is this a real recall??
This is a real recall put out by the FDA - but many pharmacies did not receive it. One option is to print out the FDA recall press release and take it to the pharmacy. They can call GSK as a medical representative. I tried calling and didn't get anything about being charged for the call. What option did you choose?
We reached out to GlaxoSmithKline today and they have provided this information for us: "In response to some of the questions raised on this forum, any person with concerns about this voluntary recall, or if you believe you have an inhaler from an affected lot, please contact the GSK Response Center for instructions. This call is free of charge. The lot numbers affected by the recall are Lot 5ZP1708 and Lot 5ZP1951. Please do not go directly to your pharmacy without calling the Response...
Hi Art! According to the company, "patients are not being told to return the inhalers. If you have a question, call the company’s response center: 1-888-825-5249."
Hugs, Donna! I do hope you have a hands-free option so you're not getting a crick in the neck. I know that I've read where they are expecting higher than usual call volume. Is there any way to leave a message or email?
Hi @Shellz72 , Do you have an inhaler that matches the lot numbers? If so, it is okay to continue using the inhaler, but be aware that your inhaler may have leaked and so there may not be the full number of "puffs" available. You can call the company at 1-888-825-5249 for more information. You may also want to call your doctor or insurance company about getting a new refill.
@Melanie Carver Thank you so much for your response to Shellz72. I was wondering the exact same thing. I just received a new inhaler a week ago and it happens to be in the recall batch. I will call my doctor and pharmacy Monday about getting a new inhaler.
@5dr80 that sounds really frustrating and I'm sorry you are having so much trouble getting information. You can call GSK's company’s response center: 1-888-825-5249 and should be able to sort things out for you.
@Concerned , I hear your frustration about being on a fixed income. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America is not associated with GlaxoSmithKline who is the manufacturer of the Ventolin inhaler. We are a non-profit organization, and we are reporting this recall to inform people with asthma who rely on this medication. Please call GlaxoSmithKline's response center at 1-888-825-5249 and speak to their representative. AAFA's blog post about What to Do If You Can't Afford Your Asthma...

Since when do pets take precedence over the health of humans? This is discrimination and is illegal. The Americans with Disabilities Act needs to be revised to address this discriminatory situation. Persons advocating for persons with asthma &/or allergies should call and/or write to: Civil Rights Division of US Dept of Justice, 950 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20530 USA, phone: 1-202-514-4609 and give them your story/case (asthma and/or allergy situation). Important to stress...
Unfortunately, the American Civil Liberties Union will not intervene in this matter with public transportation. The number you provided is a great course of action as is local state action.
I spoke with a representative at AAFA in December 2018. Although she said that AAFA has brought the perspectives of people with dander-sensitive disabilities to the Department of Transportation (DOT) (because the airline industry doesn't have to honor our ADA rights), AAFA does not, from what I can locate, seem to be doing any serious, aggressive public campaigns on our behalf. You are correct that AAFA seems to be primarily focused on food allergies; they also hide behind arbitrary "air...
Thank you for sharing! I think you are doing amazing advocating for yourself and making changes in your home and work life, gaining support from your friends, family, and coworkers along the way (even though it can be hard at times). I am so thankful to hear your stories on Daily Roll Call thread and hear how you find accomodations and work through problems because it helps me and makes me feel less alone in this.
