Protect Yourself From Dust Mites With Asthma and Allergy Friendly Pillows and Pillow Covers

When you lay your head on your pillow at night, all you want to think about is comfort – not millions of dust mites. And if you have a dust mite allergy, having all those microscopic insects near your head can make you uncomfortable by triggering allergy and asthma symptoms.

You can create a healthier sleeping environment by using pillows that are CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly®. Or you can cover your existing pillow in a CERTIFIED pillow cover.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) also recommends that you replace your pillow every two years.

How Do I Know If a Pillow or Pillow Cover is CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® ?

So, what should you look for in a pillow or pillow cover?

CERTIFIED pillows and pillow protectors are scientifically tested to create a healthier sleeping environment.

For a pillow or pillow cover to be CERTIFIED, we test to make sure it has:

  • An outer fabric that blocks allergens like dust mites from passing through
  • Is "breathable" fabric for your comfort
  • Can be easily cleaned to remove allergens
  • Can withstand the wear and tear of the recommended cleaning techniques
  • No chemicals known to trigger asthma and allergy symptoms
If a pillow or pillow cover meets our standards by passing all of our tests, it earns our certification. When you shop for a pillow or pillow cover, look for the CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® mark on the packaging to know if it meets these standards.

I just ordered a new mattress encasement (zippered) and 2 pillow encasements from AAFA's list here-- my old-one's zipper broke (it was not one from aafa's list and it was kinda cheap and had a plastic-y feel and was tough to clean) so that is why this time I wanted an AAFA certified one. I cant wait for it to come!
