My sincere apologizes @K8sMom2002 for the delay in getting back to you! Oh, they have been on big adventures this summer. We flew across the country to visit their great grandparents and grandparents! (It was our first time in 3 years that we were able to make a trip back to our "hometown" in Michigan). We then drove to Canada to get him and big brother some safe snacks! Went orange picking, bike rides, walks, and at home learning lessons.
They went well - Wahoo! Flights are so nerve wracking. We have only flown Southwest and since we have had good experiences, it has become our preferred airline. The first flight, there were a handful of people pre-boarding with us because they had peanut allergies too. Our second flight, the pilot told me that our previous flight also had a peanut allergy passenger so they did not serve peanuts on the flight before us. Southwest did not serve peanuts and since we were able to pre-board, I...
Oh kathy this is great! In response.... ...whether you finish or not the training is worth it! Most important is that you have the courage to start! Do it for all of us, some of us aren't at that level and it is inspiring to watch and cheer our friends on. We ride with you my friend. Prayers and best wishes for great weather, staying above the allergens, building up your lungs and body and freedom from any incidents to slow you down. gigi
Thanks Gigi! I AM doing it for all of us who deal with asthma! And it really did take a courage to start this and share my journey. The whole thing is kind of scary! I will definitely feel you riding with me! I have a special shirt and I'm going to write everyone's name on it who supports me with a donation for AAFA !
Kathy, I am training to walk a half marathon on October 1st and I have many of the same concerns. I am doing well with training now, but I am concerned because July and August are my bad months for asthma and allergies. I also have trouble with hot humid weather. I am encouraged by your story and I am excited to follow your journey while I continue with mine!
Welcome @Karen B PT ! I totally understand about weather concerns. My allergies are flared right now with certain trees and it's really a struggle! I'm trying to not let fear of an attack keep me from riding. It's hard some days! Then it's going to get hot here in July and August which is also an issue for me. I'm glad my story is encouraging for you! I'd love to hear more about your training and goals. I'd like to invite you to join us on the support forums to share your story. To start a...
Kathy, this is awesome. We wish you the very best, training and on the day of the ride. And you can bet not only that we'll be donating in your honor; we'll be rooting for you all the way.
Thanks @AS ! I'm definitely learning how to read my body better. There are subtle signs I was not realizing. That should hopefully allow me respond to asthma episodes before they become severe.

Thank you, @Kathy P His older brother who also has asthma & allergies and tends to have more problems keeping it controlled. He has always carried his meds so this is all he knows. It is always so precious seeing them be so attentive to one another.
I love that he's able to participate in sports! What sports does he participate in? We have several moms of kiddos who manage asthma on our Asthma Support Forum ... c'mon over and introduce yourself!
My daughter, Christia has been fighting asthma and allergies since she was 2 years old. She loves the outdoors! With her inhalers, nebulizer, Flonase and eye drops, nothing will stop us for doing what she loves. We got this girlie!! She sure loves her buzzy the bees
