Welcome, Fran! Love the tree -- the snowman is such a great twist! How do you #TackleAsthma? Share your story and any tips and tricks on our Asthma Online Community Support Forum. We're gathering a lot of great news articles on research into asthma.
I want Beconase or Qnasl for my nose. I used Beconase CFC on and off from about 1975-2005 and it was always miracle. They discontinued it! Now they exclude it. It's a new trend I was reading that started about a year ago. You have to appeal for medical necessity, anyone done this successfully for INS (inhaled nasal steroids?) There is a lot of research saying untreated allergic rhinitis increases chance of hospital visit for asthma significantly.
I pray for the family and for all those suffering with allergies and asthma. It is difficult to live with every day. It is difficult to watch and care for someone living with it. I wish I could snap my fingers and cure us all. But, education and awareness does save lives and help. Planting (female, allergy-friendly trees) helps. And research helps. I am so sorry to the family of Austin and the community, you are in our prayers.
Dear Deborah, You have my deepest sympathy on your loss. Only another parent, like Meredith, can truly understand the loss of a child. Nothing we - or anyone - can say will make it easier. Nothing is going to replace your son, or make his passing less frustrating. But you may find that channeling your pain can help - not only for you, your family and friends, but all the other spouses, children, friends and colleagues who may be living with asthma, know someone intimately at risk, or may...
My spouse is dealing with CIU, with hives on a daily basis. Her allergist landed on CIU and I thought he was just giving up on trying to find the cause, but a ton of independent research has shown that CIU is apparently legit. If anyone with CIU reads this, can you please share any tips on helping with the daily hives? My wife is curious how others with CIU are coping with regards to their job, especially with the hives causing fatigue and frustration, difficult time concentrating, etc.
I have asthma. This morning I went to a friend’s home and they had their essential oils diffuser on. I don’t know which essential oil they were using, but within 5 minutes of breathing it my lungs felt like they were on fire and I couldn’t breath. Once I got outside I started to improve. I had to use albuterol because I was still struggling to breathe. I’ve always heard positive things about essential oils, but after doing a little research today, I’ve decided not to diffuse them in my home.
My sister stays in NYC and I have visited her quite a few times. From my visits, I can say that NYC is one of the worst cities to stay for asthma patients. The level of pollution and allergens is too high in NYC. I hope this healthy housing scheme would improve the living conditions in the state. Another thing that I feel should be done is create more awareness about the use of vacuum cleaners. Nowadays, there are specially designed vacuum cleaners like the dyson cinetic ones which are...
This is why companies of a business for mass people I have said like hotels Uber Lyft Taxi Planes This is example about Uber's (Btw nothing against this guy so don't every want these people to get introubke and Amit not just them it's tooons of people, there needs to be law for boundary about air and containimant air in public spaces aka place of business) These places are not pet stores. This puppy is sooooo cute and sweet but that is why it is ignored But I see and cannot filter my Uber...
this has not proven to be true in our home. We had a dog since before my daughter (asthmatic) was born, and when she was tested for many types of airborne allergies, dogs were the ONLY thing that came back red flagged! Shows the research changes all the time in what they tell you. Be careful telling people this info! Could do more harm than good!
I totally understand your thoughts ... we've lived with pets since before DD came home, and she has allergies and eczema and asthma. I think it's important for parents to talk to their allergists and get the recommendations for their individual situation. Research, however, can show us the big picture and possibly lead to more understanding.
I have noticed the doctors depend more on the meds than on their judgements...when u question them about the meds being prescribed they make u feel like its the right thing to do but when I do my own research it' a totally different story.
Hi, Bixente ... Since you are interested in research, when you are filling out your profile, you can check YES on the following two questions: Would you like to find out more about research opportunities or clinical trials that will help shape the future for those living with asthma and allergies? Would you like to become a Patient and Family Advisor (PFAC) for research and education projects?
BRAVO! I used to work a lot abroad, and was lucky then not to have many problems with my asthma, but was still sorry not to find more organizations doing work like you are now. Inevitably, I would be questioned all the time about my allergies and asthma and asked how I managed them. In almost every case, the people were limited to folk treatments and naturopathic treatments, with little current knowledge of the underlying biology and role of triggers, or the variety in types. I've benefited...
