My sister stays in NYC and I have visited her quite a few times. From my visits, I can say that NYC is one of the worst cities to stay for asthma patients. The level of pollution and allergens is too high in NYC. I hope this healthy housing scheme would improve the living conditions in the state. Another thing that I feel should be done is create more awareness about the use of vacuum cleaners. Nowadays, there are specially designed vacuum cleaners like the dyson cinetic ones which are...
I contacted my insurance company, Tufts, very happy that finally there is a generic Advair cost includes a $400 deductible per year then each discus is about $150. Not surprisingly, they told me that the generic isn't available on my plan. Ya. And if I wanted to, I could ask for an exception so that it's avaiable on my plan. Then, if it's approved it's TIER FIVE. The brand name Advair is tier four. So Tufts would charge me even more for the generic, IF they approved it for my plan. I've...
Yeah I tried some Himalayan pink salt from the indian grocery store and it seems to be having a really good effect on me because I get a good feeling and feel very rejuvenated..........I guess it helps clear the dust out of my system and breathing better.
Nothing has touched my insanely dry and itchy bout with eczema-like foderma eczema serum. No pain applying to broken skin and almost clear by morning. Even the prescription stuff does not give these results!
The problem is that companies are too cheap to do it right and/or the ventilation companies are worthless. A local big box pharmacy has air flow in and out of their area. Having their pharmacy at positive pressure would keep all the customer's germs out of the dispensing area. People complain about smoky businesses: one bar I used to go to had 200 people that smoked and their air was clear, whereas you couldn't see across another bar that only had 30 smoking. A local ventilation company...
@ScttLee Your concern is certainly understandable. Doing what you did and being clear about your preference, regardless of cost, is so important (and sometimes easier said than done).
Thank you for the updates! Super helpful! I just wanted to point out that the one study that found no to link to increased risk of complications in persons with asthma also didn't study anyone with asthma. Ie none of the 140 had (or knew they had) asthma. I think that's an important detail. The wording of the study itself, concerning asthma and allergic diseases, is misleading until you read the whole thing. Two patients had COPD and they both had grim outcomes. Take what you want from that,...
Absolutely agree with you on this. That study is not particularly helpful and I’m unclear ho they came to the conclusion they did without the direct study of asthmatics. It’s hard not to panic.
Usually one shot doesn't do enough to weaken your immune system. The dosage is too small and it's only a one time thing. If you were to get shots frequently and on a regular basis, it would have more of an effect on the strength of your immune system and your doctor would be required to let you know. But in an otherwise healthy individual with only one shot, you should be in the clear. This is just what my doctor told me. I'm no doctor. If you to be super thorough, call your doctors office...
Can coronavirus mask itself in positive tests for FluA or FluB? If a person were to test positive for either of those influenza viruses are they clear of corona?
The testing for COVID-19 is based on looking for specific gene sequences unique to that virus. Those are gene sequences that do not appear in other similar viruses. How do the new coronavirus tests work? Updated to add: you theoretically could have both viruses in which case you will test positive for flu A/B.
to echo @Lara , same for sore throat and chest tightness, particularly for those with both asthma and allergies. Postnasal drip causes a sore throat for me and I always have a tight chest around dust and ragweed. Those are the literal symptoms of COVID-19... I guess you can't please everyone and nothing is ever clear, ha. We have to do our best to pay close attention to our bodies, ask ourselves if what we are experiencing is unusual and act accordingly.
Hi - you and @Lara bring up good points! Do you find that you are more in tune with your body due to allergies and asthma? I think I am, although I still often ignore signs and symptoms :-) A fever may be the 1 symptom that notifies us something else may be going on.
Sometimes. Sometimes it is exhausting feeling ill the time, so I try to disengage from what is happening to my body. I very seldom get a fever, even with pneumonia.
