A sign of the times? ... I don't know if anyone else has observed any kind of trend locally, but I recently learned that my pulmonologist had closed his practice. I was visiting my regular doctor (whose office is on the same floor of the same building as my pulmo doc) and there was a letter taped to the glass door - the practice was closed with no forwarding address. When I asked my regular doctor what happened, he said that with the modern medications available for asthma, COPD, etc.,...
Totally understand that @Martha Anne ! The recirculated air and close proximity to potentially sick people was a huge concern. The mask definitely helped to keep me from touching my face and spreading germs there. I also had packs of wipes and hand sanitizer. I carefully wiped down my personal space - arm rests, back of the seat, tray table - before I sat down. Any time I went to the rest room, I slathered in hand sanitizer. Also wiped down things in the hotel rooms like door handles, TV...
@LoriC @Lois Hi! I have moderate to severe asthma controlled on medication and also work at a high volume business where I am working almost constantly. I have found two types of masks work for me (cotton cloth and nylon with an additional cotton cloth layer). Being high risk and considered essential I would prefer you and others wear a mask because it puts me, other people who are high risk, or their families are high risk at ease. Considering you are high risk I would not want you to come...
I wish more people would be mindful of the impact that having animals present for trick or treat has on people who have to avoid the animals. Too many people bring their dogs, in particular, to trick or treat. Animals should not be present, including coming to the door of a house that participates in the event. It is an event for kids and their parents to enjoy and celebrate, and they should not be worried that an animal will cause an allergic reaction. This has gotten much worse over the...
Absolutely love the graphs/charts! Living in Michigan the pollen here is an astronomic amount. Once again, we bring allergens in if we open a door to our home or it can be on our clothes and recirculated in our HVAC systems. Everyone waits for Spring here in Michigan, but along with climate change comes allergies.
Such a sad story. Such an unnecessary loss. My eyes are full of tears. This shows all of us that we never know what we can expect. Always have emergency meds on hand. If possible, have back-ups. Always let someone know when you are having an asthma attack. I have no idea why that emergency room door was locked. Why was the desk unattended? There is no excuse for these things to have happened. I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful, young wife. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
