I got a new doctor and he did the prior authorization correctly and It was still denied. They want to know why I can't use it.I left a message for my doctor to do the appeal and tell them it doesn't work for me.I'm still using the inhaler that my sister sent me the money for. I still have to use my inhaler in hot weather here in Az. It's 115 and tomorrow 117 and we've had dangerously hot weather. We already broke the record of 120 from 23 yrs.ago. I stayed in for 2 weeks because dangerous...
Oh kathy this is great! In response.... ...whether you finish or not the training is worth it! Most important is that you have the courage to start! Do it for all of us, some of us aren't at that level and it is inspiring to watch and cheer our friends on. We ride with you my friend. Prayers and best wishes for great weather, staying above the allergens, building up your lungs and body and freedom from any incidents to slow you down. gigi
Kathy, I am training to walk a half marathon on October 1st and I have many of the same concerns. I am doing well with training now, but I am concerned because July and August are my bad months for asthma and allergies. I also have trouble with hot humid weather. I am encouraged by your story and I am excited to follow your journey while I continue with mine!
Welcome @Karen B PT ! I totally understand about weather concerns. My allergies are flared right now with certain trees and it's really a struggle! I'm trying to not let fear of an attack keep me from riding. It's hard some days! Then it's going to get hot here in July and August which is also an issue for me. I'm glad my story is encouraging for you! I'd love to hear more about your training and goals. I'd like to invite you to join us on the support forums to share your story. To start a...
I am new here and new to allergic asthma. I have had allergies all my life, but asthma for only a year or so. I am trying to find some helpful information about some practical things I can do to manage my symptoms. The doctor gave me the diagnosis, but I am left on my own to figure out how to live with it. I am glad to find this community.
Hi Sue and welcome! Did the doc give you an asthma action plan on how to track your symptoms? Do your allergies trigger asthma? Do you have those controlled?
As for the allergies, I have had them under control for a year. My triggers seem to be cold weather, strong smells like bleach, perfume, and paint. Thanks☺
All things that are difficult to avoid! As for the asthma plan, I'd push back on the pulmonologist for one. If need be, print out the one on the site here and ask him to fill it out. No need to reinvent the wheel.
I think that these kids who were suspended knew what they were doing better than the school officials. They were administering inhalers, not injecting epinephrine. I think a sit down conference with the students involved, their parents, the medical staff at the school and the school administration to review the situation is what should have occurred. I do not advocate sharing medications at all; I am a pharmacist and am well aware of the problems with that. However, before we knew my daughter...
In this article it talks about the possibility of "cold dry air" causing an asthma attack. Does this also apply to cold "moist "air as I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and am surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean
I just bought several great mufflers/scarves so I can walk outside in cold weather without symptoms of cold weather affecting my lungs. I bought the Octr Mistral Skube, which is sold at ski shops. It is a light nylon tube that has elastic and a cord so it can tightened around the nose. It doesn't fall down like an ordinary scarf.
Interesting note about how very cold air even affects other animals' lungs. In this case horses! 🐴 Mid-Rivers Equine Centre - Combat Lung Damage In Cold Weather Edited to add screenshot of link for those who aren't on FB - CRR - 12/16/2019
I've been going to pulmonologists, ENTs ,Allergists , holistic options , over and over again for 3o years. Asthma just got worse. Chronic cough. Even went to Cleveland Clinic Cough Clinic. Cough would never stop. Tried all drugs prescribed. Did test for gerd twice. DiD Everything and was compliant. Been going to salt suite near me for past 3 weeks- hour and half day and I HEAR the silence of not coughing ALL the time and lungs feel not as tight. No other changes so I'm sticking to it.
