This line is the article..."Patients should also know that inhaling concentrated salts (hypertonic saline) has been proven to irritate the airways, causing cough and mucus, which can make asthma worse for some people." Yes, because hypertonic saline is used to induce a reaction for testing. That is a known. The water is what makes that happen. However, that does not happen to that degree with dry salt therapy. It may make your throat tickle, and cause you to cough up more mucus, but that is...

I have allergic asthma. I used to get immune therapy shots . Until it was ragweed season and they gave me the shot and my throat Closed up . Eventually they want to try again. . But since I have been sick so often because of my immune deficiency and Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia they didn’t want to risk it . My allergic asthma doesn’t just mess with my lungs it also causes my throat to spasm .
I’ve had oas to apples, pears, all stone fruit, almonds as well as hazelnuts since my childhood. And it’s gotten progressively worse. I used to be able to eat these foods cooked or baked, now this is not even possible anymore. I got a blood test a few years ago and only hazelnut came back positive. But I know when eating raw apple my throat closes up. I have to carry an epi pen with me now. Any chance it could get better? I still get dreams of eating apples.
to echo @Lara , same for sore throat and chest tightness, particularly for those with both asthma and allergies. Postnasal drip causes a sore throat for me and I always have a tight chest around dust and ragweed. Those are the literal symptoms of COVID-19... I guess you can't please everyone and nothing is ever clear, ha. We have to do our best to pay close attention to our bodies, ask ourselves if what we are experiencing is unusual and act accordingly.
Hi - you and @Lara bring up good points! Do you find that you are more in tune with your body due to allergies and asthma? I think I am, although I still often ignore signs and symptoms :-) A fever may be the 1 symptom that notifies us something else may be going on.
Sometimes. Sometimes it is exhausting feeling ill the time, so I try to disengage from what is happening to my body. I very seldom get a fever, even with pneumonia.
I understand completely. It can be exhausting to live with chronic conditions and we all need to find a way cope, which is challenging. All we can do is follow the guidelines to distance ourselves from people and places, and pay attention to our bodies for anything that feels different. Please keep us updated on how your are feeling - sending health vibes! Lorene
*I am not a doctor* My biggest concern for children who suffer with allergic asthma is the child might not know how to talk about how their allergies, asthma, are causing them to feel bad, to have problems with their sinuses, nose, throat, upper respiratory tract. My concern for the child with asthma, what is their indoor living environment? What is their bedroom like as that is where child may spend most of their life. Does the child have a Hepa air filter machine working to clean the air?
