Up until 2 weeks ago, I took prednisone only for a cold or flu symptoms . Also I had started on Stiolto 3 months ago, replacing Alvesco and Spiriva. My doctor recommended the change. I should have researched it. I had used Symbicort, then Advair, then Breo all with the same results: quite pronounced chest pains after a few weeks on the new med. The first time resulted in extensive testing, focusing on potential heart problems, but with numerous other tests for physical, chemical, even...
My allergies trigger my asthma. I hope everyone gets better. This is not fun.. The one place I want to be is outside. I am very limited to being out there. I am Thankful for for every breath I get to take..
CConatser, I hear you on being thankful for every breath! And Jasmine, feel free to join in our conversations on our online Asthma Support Community -- we have lots of folks with great attitudes there!
I lost my 40 year old son last week, a husband, father to three young sons, brother! And very loved son. Last year at this time he was hospitalized and intubated to help him breath. When he started suffering very bad symptoms last weekend he was reluctant to go to the hospital for fear they would intubate him. By the time he realized how serious it was he collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest. I am so broken and angry that he waited so long to try to get help. It is very hard to function.
I have asthma. This morning I went to a friend’s home and they had their essential oils diffuser on. I don’t know which essential oil they were using, but within 5 minutes of breathing it my lungs felt like they were on fire and I couldn’t breath. Once I got outside I started to improve. I had to use albuterol because I was still struggling to breathe. I’ve always heard positive things about essential oils, but after doing a little research today, I’ve decided not to diffuse them in my home.
I think that these kids who were suspended knew what they were doing better than the school officials. They were administering inhalers, not injecting epinephrine. I think a sit down conference with the students involved, their parents, the medical staff at the school and the school administration to review the situation is what should have occurred. I do not advocate sharing medications at all; I am a pharmacist and am well aware of the problems with that. However, before we knew my daughter...
Way to shred dude! How do you manage your asthma when in the water? I've had issues when I was really short of breath trying to paddle out even if I pretreated prior to grabbing the board.
What I really find annoying about asthma is it robs me of being able to have a good belly laugh...I starting coughing and lose my breath. So because people don't see me laugh too much they think I'm a crab!!!
Humidity does make me feel like the air is heavier/denser to breath and therefore my asthma feels worse when it is humid especially in the hot weather. Interesting points in the article. Good reminder about how the changes from going between hot and cold air temperatures can cause problems.
