I am glad I found your website. Looking forward to seeing all your updates, information, etc. Allergies are a big part of my life and I need to have control over them all year long! :'(
Hi, William! I would talk to your doctor about receiving the flu shot. I know my doctor encourages me to get a flu shot every year. You can get a flu vaccine that is NOT live. Here's what the CDC says about the flu vaccine :
I want Beconase or Qnasl for my nose. I used Beconase CFC on and off from about 1975-2005 and it was always miracle. They discontinued it! Now they exclude it. It's a new trend I was reading that started about a year ago. You have to appeal for medical necessity, anyone done this successfully for INS (inhaled nasal steroids?) There is a lot of research saying untreated allergic rhinitis increases chance of hospital visit for asthma significantly.
Yes, Jen's exactly right. Plus, the Centers for Disease Control says this about who should get the flu shot: My DH isn't a fan of shots, but he gets his shot every year to help protect me and our daughter -- side benefit is that he hasn't gotten the flu himself since he started getting an annual flu shot. Could you talk to your doctor about what your doctor's recommendation is for flu shots when it comes to your particular family? Your doctor will know your situation best.
I would just like to say I have been diagnosed with asthma along with copd and early stage emphysema.... I have never smoked but have lived with smokers during my childhood... their smoking has condemned me to a certain outcome of death... i have gotten bronchitis every year for the past 35 years, walking pneumonia and whooping cough..... pollen aggravates my allergies and I have not slept more then 4 to 5 hours a night because of the coughing for the past 5 years..why do i have to pay the...
Thanks! I wonder if this is what my surgical team used when I had a reaction following surgery last year. I wound up with hives that required a trip to my doctor for a shot.
I do suffer from Hives but it is a few times a year. Mine is due to allergies and they get the size of a dime and a quarter. I just recently went to the dr and she prescribed a cream that is working to get the hives to go down. It's an awful feeling and mine occur in the weirdest places.
I lost my 40 year old son last week, a husband, father to three young sons, brother! And very loved son. Last year at this time he was hospitalized and intubated to help him breath. When he started suffering very bad symptoms last weekend he was reluctant to go to the hospital for fear they would intubate him. By the time he realized how serious it was he collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest. I am so broken and angry that he waited so long to try to get help. It is very hard to function.
I am new here and new to allergic asthma. I have had allergies all my life, but asthma for only a year or so. I am trying to find some helpful information about some practical things I can do to manage my symptoms. The doctor gave me the diagnosis, but I am left on my own to figure out how to live with it. I am glad to find this community.
As for the allergies, I have had them under control for a year. My triggers seem to be cold weather, strong smells like bleach, perfume, and paint. Thanks☺
My sister stays in NYC and I have visited her quite a few times. From my visits, I can say that NYC is one of the worst cities to stay for asthma patients. The level of pollution and allergens is too high in NYC. I hope this healthy housing scheme would improve the living conditions in the state. Another thing that I feel should be done is create more awareness about the use of vacuum cleaners. Nowadays, there are specially designed vacuum cleaners like the dyson cinetic ones which are...
K8SMOM2002 Last fall undecided to dry the flowers so I cut them before the birds and squirrel could get at them. Oh my word I didn't realize how much pollen was in them. So I won't be drying them this year but I will plant the seeds again next year will just have to buy them.
I am really upset about these standards for pollution. I just read an article today called " EPA admits new emissions plan could lead to 1,400 premature deaths a year AUG 21, 2018 6:12 PM EDT U.S. BY JASON SILVERSTEIN / CBS NEWS : "A 289-page EPA report released Tuesday provides details on the impact of the Trump administration's Affordable Clean Energy rule, which would reverse Obama-era cuts to power plant carbon pollution. The EPA acknowledges that the proposed plan is expected to...
Thank you so much for advocating for asthma/allergy sufferers regarding animals on planes. People with pets do not seem to realize that it is a matter of life or death for an allergy sufferer, like me, to be exposed to pet dander. Please let me know how I may help with this effort. Also, I had to cancel my plans to two family weddings this past year, sadly, because the hotels offering accommodations for the wedding guests, as well as other hotels in the same towns, had "pet friendly"...
