Maryrita - there isn't anything in Canada officially associated with AAFA. There are a few national Canadian organizations that do focus on asthma and allergies.

Patients were heard! The Graham-Cassidy bill is defeated. Pre-existing conditions, lifetime caps and other protections for patients are protected. Thank you to all of our advocates for sharing your stories and taking action. We hope the next step to improving our health care system puts patients’ needs front and center and that our leadership listens and fixes the items that are still barriers to care.
So, if I fill out the form you send in a request to keep the AFA for me, with my information? No way! I didn't know the AAFA was a liberal site. I thought you were a neutral non-profit. I know more working people now without insurance because of the AFA. I now pay $1323.00 a month in premiums for a family of three. I used to pay half that. I personally hope and pray we find a better plan than the AFA. It's driving costs up and insurance companies out of business. The first year the US HAD...
Thanks for this info. Are there any recommended action items if we'd like to get involved? Recommendations for calling/writing our Congressional Representatives, for example.
If you receive health insurance through your job, be sure to tell your employer now how important affordable, non-discriminatory health care is to you and your family! Many employers are shopping around for plans now before open enrollment begins in late fall.
I've been using a sensor put out by Propeller that does nearly the same thing and have really enjoyed it. I get a report each month showing my usage. The only thing it doesn't offer is the comparison of my inhaler technique.
I offered to email it to my dr or nurse but they aren't interested. However, it helps me out because I can see how often I use my inhaler. Their app also lets me put in my other asthma meds that can't use the sensor and track those as well. I take Symbicort 2x a day and have set reminders as I was bad at remembering to use it and now, I use it 12 out of 14 times a week (those missed are usually on the weekends when I tend to sleep in and don't think about it).
Its ridiculous that MD do have no protection for our childern. My daugther has asthma bad especially in September this year it was the 1st day. Plus yes our school systems is so not right. They failed my baby 2 two but over turned the last one. Then last year ask if she wants to go in her correct grade in October no this should of been offered before school started. Crazy no implenations or help.

Hi Mehgan! Welcome to the AAFA forums! If their office is closed, can you email them and express your concerns? I know for us, many appts and procedures that we had scheduled have been canceled.

The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are both appropriate for adults over the age of 18 (Pfizer's can be given to teens/adults at 16 years old and up). Now, if you're coughing and choking because you have COVID, you should hold off on getting the vaccine until you feel better ( per the CDC ). If you are coughing and choking because you have an allergies (e.g., pollen, peanuts, pineapple, etc), you can still get the vaccine. That said, if you are allergic to any of the specific...
Hi @californiamom ! Welcome to the community. We have a blog post with lots of information on the COVID-19 vaccines . The post includes and easy-to-use chart that explains who should get which vaccine, who should talk their doctor first, and who may want to wait. Have you signed up for your vaccine appointment yet? Thanks for the reminder to smile - I always appreciate a good smile. Lorene

I am not black but I had no support in the workplace during pregnancy, and my (now-ex) child's father only stole from me in that yi e period. I became ill, but worked until two days before I gave birth, used all my vacation days for the first 2 weeks after, actually had to bring my infant to work in my office after that, taking breaks to breast feed, and I got really sick during pregnancy and after. I had developed severe asthma during pregnancy, and then had a heart attack caused by a...
