Thanks, AAFA! Love the blog post! Another thing I learned was to keep in mind supply chain shortages ... even if we're not in the direct path of the storm, we may be hit with gas or food or medication shortages, and our cellular phone service may take a hit.
My DD wears an alert for her FA and bleeding disorder ... she's always telling me that I should wear one for my asthma. I guess I should be a better role model and order myself on, no?
Very informative! I've just read the related article about humidity recently https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/325474.php . We don't live in a wet climate, and my son suffered because of dry air. We bought an ultrasonic humidifier to help him breathe easier, but at that time we hadn't known that the humidity level should be 40-45%. So the humidity in our room was around 55%, and my son’s health has not only not improved, but has also worsened. Thanks to our Dr, he explained to us how...
Humidity does make me feel like the air is heavier/denser to breath and therefore my asthma feels worse when it is humid especially in the hot weather. Interesting points in the article. Good reminder about how the changes from going between hot and cold air temperatures can cause problems.

Side effects of any Rx - medication is concerning to me as I have documented drugs that I have worse side effects to. Montelukast Rx I've been taking for about 2 yrs for allergic asthma, also, inhaler, nebulizer treatments, for when my allergic asthma is at worse of pollen season. I also use hepa air filters, change filter on my A/C, protective covers on my pillows, mattresses. To date, I've not had bad side effects to Montelukast. However, back in 1988, my allergic asthma was really bad,...
No joke my asthma has gotten worse this winter . I think it’s the extreme between the heat and extreme cold . Between the allergies and asthma and drip . I got a respiratory infection. Was on antibiotics not fun . Now anything sets it off . Someone smokes I can’t stop coughing. I was never like this before . Also doesn’t help that my workplace is an active construction zone so it’s non stop with dust . Also sometimes the air flow isn’t working . Just stagnant hot air . Doctor is having me...
Sorry to hear about the increased symptoms this winter and the respiratory infection. It can take some time after a flare (like from a respiratory infection) for your lungs to settle down. Do you have a sick plan from your doctor to tell you how and when to taper off any increased medicines/nebulizers after being sick. Is the new medicine Tezspire ?
KoreyAusTex, do you have allergies to mold or dust mites? Humidity from rains can cause mold spores to climb and dust mites to increase. Do you have more trouble indoors or out?
I have allergies and asthma. Reading a real human story like this helps remind me to keep up that constant preparation no matter how good or bad I am feeling, for both myself, and also for my son who has food allergies. I carry a large backpack purse (sometimes I put it in a rolling bag because it is so heavy). It has all our emergency medicines in it. It has gotten heavier over the years because I want to be prepared and have my inhalers (I always carry a backup of each), our epipens, an...
Why is it politicians and stakeholders do not appear to be indoor monitoring “indoor relative humidity”, etc existing inside schools, workplace, and homes that directly contribute toward inflation for everyone——including incurable real estate “over time”.. 3 Indoor Monitoring Examples - www.normipromonitoring.com www.uhooair.com https://www.senseware.co/airborne-monitoring/
