Dear Deborah, You have my deepest sympathy on your loss. Only another parent, like Meredith, can truly understand the loss of a child. Nothing we - or anyone - can say will make it easier. Nothing is going to replace your son, or make his passing less frustrating. But you may find that channeling your pain can help - not only for you, your family and friends, but all the other spouses, children, friends and colleagues who may be living with asthma, know someone intimately at risk, or may...

Thank you Jen!! I am allergic to a variety of tress and grasses that grow in Arkansas. They are year around trees. Pollen, mold and dust peak high for me. My main issues is voiding a flare of Asthma attack. Strong smells, or any above, smoke etc can cause be to have an attack. Not allergic to pet dander.. Yea! I do have a hypo-allergic puppy! Maltice Yorkie Mix.. , Humidity is hard, flowers blooming difficult. We owed a large poultry operation for years. I was out doors all the time.
What I dont like about it is that it made me feel less important to people than their pets and that for many years I also treated myself that way and put myself around animals that made me suffer so badly until I had a heart attack due to allergic eosinophils surrounding my heart and choking it, then I took it seriously but still others dont and I struggle to stay strong and remember what happened to me so that that never happens to me again and its difficult because friends get dogs and I...
I have a neurological condition that I was always told precluded me from getting a flu shot. Last year I became very ill with bronchitis and now I suffer from adult onset asthma. This year I really feared going through the flu season. I leaned on my PCP to get me some help in dealing with this. She sent me to a neurologist for clearance to get flu and pneumonia vaccines. The neurologist researched and then said that although I might have a slight chance of having further neurological...
Great Valentine's Day Tips! 💖💘💓💌 Yes. Be thoughtful and have a healthy holiday! A book of poetry and a cozy blanket that is safe would be great! A nice mug and a box of herb tea. A sweater that is safe to wear. A pair of slippers is always nice and comforting! For folks that are home bound, how about an adult coloring book and some colored pencils? A nice picture frame that has a picture of you and your sweetie in it! Have a Happy Valentine's Day! 😍
I have been a runner for the past 10 years. Recently I had been struggling with my breathing. After getting pneumonia this past winter, I was diagnosed with adult onset asthma. Thanks to my treatments, I can enjoy running again! Asthma won’t slow me down!
Both my young adult kids have Flu- and cold-virus induced asthma. One of them is on the other side of the country at college. What do we know about the risk of Covid-19 with patients with this type of asthma? They both had their flu shots last fall. Should we be stocking up on anti-viral medication or Prednisone? The anti-viral medication really helped reduce the symptoms my son experienced in years past when he got the flu (which he got despite getting the flu vaccination).
My husband has adult-onset asthma and controls it with daily medication, however, I am still concerned what would happen to him if he contracted coronavirus, since I've seen him battle numerous sinus infections and suffer considerably. He is a college instructor and is exposed to many people on a daily basis. I do not have asthma, but also want to avoid becoming ill so I don't infect him, so we are both on a daily vitamin regimen of immune-boosting vitamins, including D3, C, fish oil, B2,...
Hi Candace, thanks for your comprehensive reply. I think it's a smart move to boost your immune system with supplements, fruits and veggies. Since my husband also has a history of illness (though related to the pancreas), he spent a lot of time researching supplements and we are well-equipped I believe. Concerning the number of infections: I'm based in Germany and referring to the situation here. Indeed, chancellor Merkel herself admitted today that 60-70% of Germans will be infected: ...
Hi! thanks for sharing your tips on how your and husband stay healthy. Just a precaution, people should always check with their health care provider before starting any supplements or even vitamins to make sure they will not interfere with current medications. Eating a healthy diet and exercising are great strategies to staying healthy throughout the year. Again, talking to a health care provider to ensure diet and exercise are safe is recommended. Grape juice contains a lot of sugar, so...
