Hi @Venkata Aspari , Welcome to AAFA's support community. It is important for all family members to be vaccinated so as not to bring flu into the home and potentially cause those with asthma to get sick. The flu can be accompanied by other illnesses, such as pneumonia, so even if someone is vaccinated, they could still get sick from others in their house who have the flu/other contagious illnesses. If everyone in the home is vaccinated, there is less risk of bringing other illnesses into the...
I would just like to say I have been diagnosed with asthma along with copd and early stage emphysema.... I have never smoked but have lived with smokers during my childhood... their smoking has condemned me to a certain outcome of death... i have gotten bronchitis every year for the past 35 years, walking pneumonia and whooping cough..... pollen aggravates my allergies and I have not slept more then 4 to 5 hours a night because of the coughing for the past 5 years..why do i have to pay the...
I think this is a great topic, and National Healthy School Days is a great way to educate children, parents, teachers, and the community on asthma and allergies. I think it would be worth noting the studies on second-hand dander and how it significantly affects children with asthma and allergies in schools (i.e. the study thst shows the more cat owners in classroom there are, the worse prognosis with kids with allergies and asthma). I think having individual lockers outside classrooms for...
Ironmom316, that us not cool I have seen dogs in my allergist office waitingvroom that are service dogs and I am like(to staff)--this is an allergist office waiting room and they wete like, well you can wait outside (to me). I went to a different allergist after that. If you cannot get a policy addressed correctly, switching out is always an option. I am super-allergic to dander and it developed into a serious chronic allergic disease after regularly being around dander that caused danage to...
My parents had a dog for a couple years before I was even born. As soon as I was brought home I started to show signs of allergies. Allergic to milk was the first one .By the time I was 3 years I was having asthma flared and had a severe attack that kept me in the hospital for about a week. The only thing that helped me was removing the pet from the home.
I have asthma. This morning I went to a friend’s home and they had their essential oils diffuser on. I don’t know which essential oil they were using, but within 5 minutes of breathing it my lungs felt like they were on fire and I couldn’t breath. Once I got outside I started to improve. I had to use albuterol because I was still struggling to breathe. I’ve always heard positive things about essential oils, but after doing a little research today, I’ve decided not to diffuse them in my home.
I've heard that said many times. But my parents had a dog for a few years before I was born and that did not keep me from being allergic to animals nor did it prevent me from developing asthma. It wasn't until they removed the pet from the home did my allergies improve and the asthma attacks stopped happening. At the age of 50 I unknlowlingly came in contact with a dog and had a bad asthma attack. Since then my allergies have not calmed down.
When i got home today one plant was broken in half and another is laying on the ground and there are seeds all over the side walk, so think they are having a good time. I'm not going to have a good time cleaning up their mess....lol...
This is great to know about when considering future cleaning at home. I am also interested in how to use quality essential oils in laundry loads and as a diluted spray to help minimize dust mites. I have read on numerous sites that oils such as peppermint, lavendar, and eucalyptis have shown promising results when stored and used correctly and in minimal amounts so as not to be an irritant. By chance have any companies such as Do Terra or others that make essential oils applied to be tested...
Remember “Borax”? Grandma loved it, & it’s still around (check grocer, or local hardware.) A quarter cup per load, kills mites in laundry! It is an excellent cleaner & polisher of nearly everything, read the box. I use a teaspoon in bottom of dishwasher loads to rinse more thoroughly. Remember to use as little soap as possible, to protect our water supply. Usually a quarter to half what is called for, is plenty of soap to get the job done. Try using less toothpaste too, about 1/4 of...
This is why companies of a business for mass people I have said like hotels Uber Lyft Taxi Planes This is example about Uber's (Btw nothing against this guy so don't every want these people to get introubke and Amit not just them it's tooons of people, there needs to be law for boundary about air and containimant air in public spaces aka place of business) These places are not pet stores. This puppy is sooooo cute and sweet but that is why it is ignored But I see and cannot filter my Uber...
Ult1Mat3x, based on the link you had, I would suggest talking to your doctor and beginning your search with the Aeromax 300 . It's the only one on your list that is asthma & allergy friendly® CERTIFIED. The asthma & allergy friendly® Certification program helps people make informed purchases for a healthier home. The program tests household products against strict standards. If products pass certain tests, they earn the CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® mark.
this has not proven to be true in our home. We had a dog since before my daughter (asthmatic) was born, and when she was tested for many types of airborne allergies, dogs were the ONLY thing that came back red flagged! Shows the research changes all the time in what they tell you. Be careful telling people this info! Could do more harm than good!
I totally understand your thoughts ... we've lived with pets since before DD came home, and she has allergies and eczema and asthma. I think it's important for parents to talk to their allergists and get the recommendations for their individual situation. Research, however, can show us the big picture and possibly lead to more understanding.
No. You shouldn't. It is basically abuse to the allergic person. I have been the allergic person and it got so bad that after chronic exposure even doing all the strategies above and with antihistamines I developed asthma symtoms and shortly after went to the hospital because I thought I was having an asthma atrack turns out it was a heart attack caused by allergic blood cells called eosinophils surrounding my heart and choking it. I was diagnosed with a severe chronic allergic disease. My...
Thank you for sharing! I think you are doing amazing advocating for yourself and making changes in your home and work life, gaining support from your friends, family, and coworkers along the way (even though it can be hard at times). I am so thankful to hear your stories on Daily Roll Call thread and hear how you find accomodations and work through problems because it helps me and makes me feel less alone in this.
What I dont like about it is that it made me feel less important to people than their pets and that for many years I also treated myself that way and put myself around animals that made me suffer so badly until I had a heart attack due to allergic eosinophils surrounding my heart and choking it, then I took it seriously but still others dont and I struggle to stay strong and remember what happened to me so that that never happens to me again and its difficult because friends get dogs and I...
My Qvar prescription is setup for auto-refill at Walgreens. A couple of days ago it was supposed to be refilled and the status changed to out of stock and backorder. A few days later it was filled and when I went in to pick it up, the pharmacist said something like the manufacturer changed. When I got home I discovered my prescription was changed to the new Qvar RediHaler. I'm looking forward to trying it out but I won't know for another 20 days until I use up my old Qvar.
